School is officially back in session for the fall semester. Our convenient location at Gramercy Mansion places us just minutes from Stevenson private schools and universities, some of the finest in Maryland and nationally renowned for excellence in academics. Many international students and families travel to the area for the educational opportunities available and it’s our pleasure to provide a home away from home for visitors.

In honor of the start to the academic school year, we’ve spotlighted a few Stevenson private schools and universities.

St. Timothy’s School is an all-girls private boarding school in Stevenson, Maryland chartered in 1832. The scenic 145-acre campus includes an equestrian center, outdoor athletics complex, performing arts center, hall, commons and cafe. International students comprise 35% of the student body with over thirty countries represented.  The school offers more than thirty student clubs and organizations and nine interscholastic sports teams.

Garrison Forest School, founded in 1910, is another private all-girl’s K-12 day and boarding school with co-ed preschool in nearby Owings Mills, Maryland. Stevenson University, Maryland’s third-largest independent university and a national leader in career education, was founded in 1947 as Villa Julie College and now serves more than 4400 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s and adult undergraduate degrees in the classroom and online. The University’s original campus is just across Greenspring Valley Road from Gramercy Mansion and is home to Stevenson’s modern science laboratories, video and art studios, art gallery, 350-seat theatre, meditation center, and the University Archives. The nearby Owings Mills campus offers suite and apartment-style residence halls, a student community center, contemporary dining complex, the Brown School of Business and Leadership, the Francis X. Pugh Mock Trial Courtroom, the Office of Career Services and the Caves Sports and Wellness Center with gymnasium and Mustang Stadium. The adjacent Owings Mills North campus is home to the School of Design.
