Each April people from around the world take time to celebrate our planet and reflect on things we can do to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.  April 22, 2015 marks the 75th anniversary of Earth Day.  Whether attending a special event, workshop or local clean-up day or planting a garden in your own backyard, there are many small things we all can do to make a big difference.

8 Simple Earth Day Ideas for Going Green

  1. Replace faucets with low-flow options and incandescent bulbs with compact flourescent lights.
  2. Opt for Energy star certified appliances when replacing the old.
  3. Go paperless when you can at home and in the office.
  4. Buy recycled and recyclable products.

EcoBash at the Maryland Science Center: Join the festivities outside on the Harbor, on the green roof and inside as you help construct Recyclesaurus, a huge dinosaur constructed by you from recycled items.

Earth Day Celebration and Clean Up at Robert E. Lee Park:  Pitch in and lend a hand to restore the park for the season, clean up debris, work on trails and plant some native plants.

Plan a Gardening Getaway in celebration of Earth Day and enjoy Anne’s gorgeous gardens at Gramercy.  Grab a shovel and lend a hand and she’s happy to send you home with some lovely perennials to plant in your own garden.
