The 1840s Plaza consists of several prominent
historic structures in the heart of Baltimore's Heritage Walk. The complex, a
designated city landmark, creates an alternative destination spot for visitors
near and far to Baltimore. Entering the gated plaza's garden, one turns to
the right to the Carroll Mansion and Historic Jonestown Visitors Center and up
the ramp to the interior courtyard and entry to the 1840s Carrollton Inn. To
the left, in the Fava Building with its historic iron facade, is Gardel's
Supper Club. The fourth floor with the twinkling chandeliers and floor to
ceiling windows houses the 1840s Ballroom. Within two blocks is Little Italy
and over twenty restaurants, the Reginald Lewis Aftican American Museum, the
Jewish Museum of Maryland, the Star Spangled Banner Flag House and 1812 Museum,
the Civil War Museum and a three and a half block walk brings one to the Inner
Harbor.
Upon completion, the plaza will welcome visitors of all ages for
concerts, special children's events and outdoor activities.
 The
Carroll Museums includes the winter home of Charles Carroll, the
last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the Shot Tower
which is now open for tours by appointment. For more information, call

building, bringing even more excitement to the Plaza as a center for
entertainment. Gardels invites guests to experience Euro-Latin cusine at
its finest with a menu embracing the regional characteristics of
Argentina, Brazil and Colombia and a wine list showcasing producers from
Europe, California, Central & South America.
