Elopements at Gramercy Mansion

It’s our pleasure to welcome many couples to celebrate their wedding day at Gramercy Mansion – some extravagant affairs and some intimate ceremonies.  Each duo has a unique story to tell and we’re happy to share the following real life love stories with you!  Thank you Alycia & Alan and Emily & Jason for sharing with us!

My husband Alan and I met in high school. Alan had his heart set on me from day one, but I just wanted to be friends at first. We stayed friends for three years before we made it official. After five years of dating, we found out we were expecting a baby girl.  Alan proposed to me under the moonlit sky on a bench in a local park.

We began to plan a big elaborate wedding but started to get side tracked in all the overwhelming details! After finding the Gramercy Mansion online there was no question we wanted to elope there! It was perfect to be able to invite just our immediate family to share in our day! We wanted our wedding to be a celebration of our eternal love and commitment, not about guest favors or the DJ. Don’t get me wrong those weddings are a lot of fun but we wanted a more intimate feeling. And Gramercy sure delivered that!

Our favorite part of the day was the moment we saw each other! We were standing right beside one another but large bushes were separating us and keeping us out of sight. The anticipation gave me butterflies in my stomach and my husband said he felt the same. We surprised our guests by letting them see when we finally saw one another for the first time. We had originally planned on meeting inside the mansion and walking down the isle together. To everyone’s pleasant surprise we let them in on the best moment of finally locking eyes and arms! We were married under the gazebo and we stayed two nights in the Camelot room! It was the most amazing and relaxing experience! The last night, we got back from dinner and our room was filled with candles and rose petals, it was a beautiful way to end our honeymoon.

Jason and I are excited to share our love story….

How did you first meet?

Jason and I first met in Mr. Hardison’s 1987 French class at Franklin Middle School in Reisterstown.  We were both in the 7th grade and met on the very first day.  I was seated next to Jason and  we spent the next 4 years taking French together and funny enough, sitting next to each other each year.  We were instant best friends for the next 5 years.  Our love story didnt pick up until several years later….

What made you decide to elope?

We have known each other for 25 years and although we ‘needed’ to be married to start a family, we had been reunited over 3 years earlier and quickly fell in love.  We are both in our upper 30s and wanted to invite only family and friends to our ceremony.  We eventually plan on having a 1 year anniversary where we plan on inviting friends and family to a larger celebration.

What is your favorite memory of your wedding day?

This sounds so cheesy but seeing Jason as I rounded the corner.  He was the first person I saw and as our eyes met everything else just disappeared.  It was just like magic!!  The venue was absolutely perfect with the white lights against the dark sky.  It was like a fairy tale.

Did you surprise your guests and, if so, how did they react?

We actually didn’t do anything grandiose but simply telephoned a few friends and family and told them ‘enough is enough, we are getting married in 2 weeks!!’  Everyone was as excited as we were!! Perfect!  Just Perfect!!

Baltimore County Resturant Week Is Back!

Friday, January 11th, 2013

Now that the holidays are over, everyone is going back to work, taking down decorations, and doing all of the other depressing activities that signify this time of year. So, why not go out and treat yourself to a fun night to escape these drab post-holiday tasks by taking advantage of the Baltimore County Restaurant Week? Baltimore County restaurants have come together once again this year to hold another Restaurant Week where each restaurant will offer three course lunch and dinner menus at discounted rates ($10.11, $15.11, $20.11, $25.11, $30.11, $35.11). This makes eating out at some of the best, most expensive restaurants in the county extremely affordable, especially for those of us who felt the burden on our wallets from all of the holiday gift buying!

Baltimore County Restaurant Week will take place from January 11-27 and to see a list of the participating restaurants and their menus, you can visit the website here. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to visit that restaurant you’ve been wanting to try and have heard such great things about but haven’t wanted to splurge on! While you’re at it, we still have plenty of rooms available during the month of January at Gramercy Mansion, so after dinner, come spend a night with us. You can take advantage of the great specials we currently have like our Last Minute Special or our January Room of the Month, Blue Garden Suite for $225. We hope you have a great January and enjoy the great savings during Baltimore Country Restaurant Week!

Last-Minute Holiday Party Tunes

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Throwing together last-minute details for this week’s holiday office party or social gathering? Forgot about the music?

Here are some tips from Carl Brashears, owner and dj of Classic Disc Jockeys and recommended dj for Gramercy Mansion…

Having the perfect music playing in the background is essential to compliment the other details that you have planned for your party. Being a DJ, I would always recommend hiring a professional Disc Jockey to handle those duties but if you don’t have the budget, room or want to tackle the music on your own, here are some tips. The key to putting together a great music format for your soiree is to set the mood with some classic tunes early on. Remember that everyone won’t arrive at the same time so the “arrival music” will most likely sp

an 30 or 40 minutes. Use your discretion how much “holiday” music you want to include and keep in mind that your guests may be hearing holiday music everywhere they go this time of year. As the time progresses, so should the energy and tempo of the music, moving the flow of the vibe along. If your revelers feel like they want to dance or just groove to the sounds you should give them the songs to do so in the later hours of the party. You can give a nod to the seasonal vibe by adding some feel good holiday remixes without resorting to overplayed choices. Variety is the key and knowing what your guests might like to hear. Good luck on the play list and Happy Holidays!

Carl can consult on the perfect party play list for any vibe on your wish list.

*Special Offer!

Carl at Classic Disc Jockeys is offering 15% off his normal fees if you book an event that takes place between now and the end of February. He will extend the offer to 20% of his normal fees for events booked during the week.

A happy couple…

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

With wedding season in full swing, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of our busy weekend schedules here at Gramercy Mansion.  But as each happy wedding couple poses for photos, smiles at one another with complete joy and truly enjoys the celebration of their new life together, we remember why we do what we do.  And those thoughtful couples who send us a note and a beautiful photo capturing a priceless memory really make our day!

Congratulations to Sherry and Dan Welte, married on May 1, 2010!  On this gorgeous spring day, they celebrated with family and friends at Gramercy with a ceremony in the lower garden overlooking Greenspring Valley followed by a reception on the garden terrace.  Thank you Sherry & Dan so much for sharing your wedding day with us!
