5 Vintage Rustic Wedding Elements

Wednesday, January 14th, 2015

We had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Maryland Wedding Expo earlier this month where we met Angela and Brandon from Cozyberry Designs and Rentals. Their gorgeous farm tables, rustic wine barrels and vintage place settings on display inspired us and we’re so excited that they’ll be at our Winter Wedding Open House this weekend to show everyone the stunning pieces available for rental!  After browsing the expo displays and imagining Gramercy Mansion decorated for our upcoming event, we decided a romantic, vintage-inspired theme is ideal for the space and season.  Planning a rustic, vintage wedding ceremony and reception?  Here are a five vintage rustic wedding elements for inspiration.

1.  Wood accents.  From thin hand-carved log slices, to twigs and branches in floral arrangements and antique wood furniture pieces even painted wooden doors displaying photos and signs and wood crates, wood elements are a rustic wedding must have.

2.  Mason jars.  Fill with hot cocoa and marshmallows as a winter wedding favor, wrap with burlap and lace as a vase, fill with floating candles, or hang from trees as mini lanterns.

3.  Lace & burlap.  Soften the edges and bring romance to everything with a touch of rustic burlap and vintage lace – aisle and table runners, wrapped around vases or embellishing cakes.  Feminine with that outdoorsy feel, vintage and oh so pretty.

4.  Soft lighting.  Rustic lanterns, crystal chandeliers, hanging mason jars, twinkle lights, teacup candles, lace-wrapped votives – nothing sets the mood like the right light.

5.  Repurposed accent pieces.  It’s all about the details – upcycle vintage suitcases, classic hardcover books, antique picture frames and anything else that speaks to you.

Get Married on 12/13/14

Monday, November 10th, 2014

December 13th, 2014 is quickly becoming the most popular wedding date of the year, especially since it falls on a Saturday and because this will be the last sequential date for years.  It will be 20 years before 1/2/34 occurs and 89 years before it is 1/2/03.

Wedding bookings always tend to soar on sequential dates, considered to be lucky. Why not add some extra luck to your nuptials with a wedding ceremony on this unforgettable date?  According to the New York Post, thousands of couples are planning to get hitched on this date because of their desire for a “cool” wedding date.  Also, according to a David’s Bridal poll, over 20,000 couples plan to marry on 12/13/14, compared to only 7,200 couples marrying on the same date in 2013.  Read more about this year’s hottest wedding date.

It’s not too late to plan your intimate winter wedding ceremony on 12/13/14. Here at Gramercy Mansion, we are available for wedding ceremonies throughout the day on 12/13/14 so you too can hold your wedding on this lucky date.  Reserve the Mansion’s breathtaking atrium for a private exchange of vows for just the two of you, an intimate ceremony with close family and friends or as many as 150 guests.  One-hour time slots are still available but booking fast!  For more information about our elopement packages, please call 410-486-2405.

Fabulous Fall Wedding Inspiration

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014

Fall is a stunning time for weddings and Autumn weddings in Maryland are particularly breathtaking.

Fall wedding at Gramercy Mansion

Guests enjoy mild and comfortable temperatures ideal for outdoor garden ceremonies.  The rich reds, oranges and marigold yellows of changing leaves and seasonal gardens can be incorporated into your color scheme and the backdrop of fall foliage makes for great pictures. Or surprise guests with a non-traditional yet elegant and complementary color palette of Wedgewood blue, peach, cranberry, red and ivory.

For indoor ceremonies and receptions, incorporate natural touches to bring the outdoors in.   Fall-themed centerpieces showcase nature’s bounty with harvest fruits and vegetables like mini pears, persimmons, kumquats, crab apples, heirloom pumpkins and figs. For a rustic country theme, decorate tables with hand-tied wheat, wild flowers or herbs.   Vibrant bouquets feature dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, dusty miller and hypericum berries.

Creative chefs and caterers infuse menus with the fresh flavors of Autumn’s harvest.  From roasted butternut squash and carrots to apples for every course (hot apple cider, apple fig compote, hand-dipped caramel apples) and a dessert table of mini apple, pumpkin and pecan pies, fall flavors delight the taste buds and warm the soul.

We would love to meet with you and learn about your vision for your fabulous wedding (fall, winter, spring or summer!).  Call 410-486-2405 to schedule a visit and private tour of Gramercy Mansion and Carriage House with the fall gardens in full bloom.  Now’s the time to reserve a date for your Fall 2015 wedding!

Top 5 Holiday Party Questions Answered

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

holiday party date on calendar

‘Tis the season to plan corporate holiday events, from client appreciation to employee celebration!  When planners visit us, many of the same questions pop up.  Following are a few answers to help with logistics and venue details so you can move on to more important things… like choosing a signature cocktail sure to kick-start the festivities!

1.  Will the venue be decorated for the holidays? We love the holiday season and embrace it with tons of festive decorations that go up the weekend after Thanksgiving and come down around the second week in January.  The exterior of the Mansion is decked with classic wreaths and white lights along with whimsical touches including Santa in his sleigh pulled by lighted reindeer.  Indoors, guests are greeted warmly by cozy fireplaces, mantles decorated with holly and holiday collectibles on display, several holiday trees, poinsettias, velvet ribbons and bows.  The Carriage House is also decorated for the holidays on a smaller scale with holiday trees and wreaths.

2.  Is catering included? Basic site rental of our venues is for reservation of the space only.  We work exclusively with three full-service caterers (Chef’s Expressions, Linwoods and Sascha’s) who are happy to discuss menu options and provide proposals including everything you need for your catered holiday event.

3.  Do you offer a discounted rate for non-profit organizations? Not specifically, but special rates are available for events scheduled less than three months in advance.  Several added-value and cost-savings incentives are now available for 2014 holiday events.  Call 410-486-2405 to inquire.  We’re also happy to support non-profit partners hosting events at our venues with donations for auctions and fundraising activities during the event.  Just ask!

4.  What about parking?  And do you offer coat check? Ample free parking is available onsite.  Parking is self service unless you choose to hire a valet company.  An unattended coat room is available for your guests on the first floor.  You may certainly contract a service for coat check if you prefer.  Visit our event resource page for recommended valet and coat check companies.

5.  Do I need to hire a d.j./musicians/entertainment service? This is entirely at your discretion and depends on your budget and the type of event you’re planning.  If it’s a casual luncheon, a holiday playlist from your iPod may be just the ticket.  You can even plug into our dock connected to a few small speakers in the Mansion’s atrium.  If you’re looking to kick things up a notch, a professional entertainment service has access to countless talented entertainers and experience creating unforgettable events.  The sky’s the limit.

Lucky you… you were nominated for the task of planning your company holiday party!  So make your list and check it twice.  Hope we’ve ticked off a few answers to your initial party planning questions.

Haven’t booked a venue yet?  No worries. Join us for a Holiday Preview Party featuring Chef’s Expressions at Gramercy Mansion on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. Cocktails and hor d’oeuvres, a sneak peek at the holiday decor and special savings and added value promotions for holiday bookings!  RSVP to or 410-486-2405.
