Love takes flight – Kim and Conor’s elegant garden wedding

Kim and Conor’s elegant garden wedding at Gramercy Mansion was a celebration of their long-time love. The twosome met in an AOL chatroom as teens almost 20 years ago. Communicating by email and instant message through high school and college, and eventually phone calls and texts, the long-distance friends (Kim from Maryland and Conor from New York) finally met in person in 2008. They were both relieved that they hadn’t been “catfished!” They began dating and the rest is history. Kim fell in love with Conor’s big heart and Conor knew that Kim would always be there for him.  Conor popped the question with a sparkly early Christmas gift on Christmas Eve 2014.

The I-do’s took place in the garden at Gramercy Mansion in early June followed by an elegant reception in the atrium. The couple knew they wanted an outdoor ceremony in late spring/early summer and planned to host both ceremony and reception at the same venue. They loved the ceremony garden at Gramercy, the character of the Mansion, and (bonus!) the air-conditioned atrium.  The gold and teal color scheme was inspired by Kim’s ivory lace gown with champagne underlay by Allure Bridals and beautifully complemented the rich colors and decor of the mansion. The groom and groomsmen sported gray tuxes from the Black by Vera Wang Collection accented with teal neckties.  Gorgeous and subtle bouquets of blush, ivory, and white by Violet Gardens Floral Designs looked like they were plucked straight from the gardens and complemented the vibrant teal and gold color palette. Kim and her maid of honor personalized the wedding decor with DIY projects including adorable chalkboard signs, a creative guest book idea, fun selfie station.

Guests indulged in decadent food stations by Sascha’s Catering featuring grilled salmon with pineapple salsa, filet of beef with horseradish crème Fraiche and crispy onion strings, and a sautéed to order Southwest fajita station.  Mini cupcakes by Flavor Cupcakery, mini desserts by Sascha’s, and a wedding favor candy station satisfied every sweet tooth in the house. The bride and groom cut into a Funfetti cake with fresh strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing.

Special thanks to Hooman Bahrani of Vesic Photography for sharing these amazing photos of Conor and Kim’s elegant garden wedding ceremony and reception.
