Kellie & David’s Mansion Wedding!

Weddings at Gramercy Mansion are a magical time! We can’t wait for the 2018 wedding season to begin. Today we want to share Kellie & David’s summer celebration at the Mansion in 2017. From light pink accents to beautiful sunshine, their day was full of love and laughter.

Cheers to Kellie & David!

Where did you and your significant other meet? What were your first impressions of each other?

We met in November 2012 while out with friends in Washington, D.C. Instantly catching one another’s eye, David introduced himself. We spent the night dancing and talking and had so much fun that we decided to keep in touch. After many talks and multiple laughs, a friendship blossomed between us. Though we did not start dating immediately, David says he knew from the first time meeting Kellie that she was someone he wanted to know for a lifetime.

How She Said Yes!

When and how did the proposal come about?

On December 11, 2015, David worked a long day and asked Kellie to go to what she thought was an impromptu dinner at one of her favorite restaurants, The Capital Grille, in Baltimore, MD. Upon arrival at the restaurant and being greeted by their waiter, Kellie wondered how they were able to get the best seat in the house with such short notice. After placing their order, the chef came out to bring them their food. Again, Kellie thought that it was very odd for the chef to bring out the food and thought that only celebrities received that type of treatment. David played along saying that he didn’t know why the chef brought out the food and perhaps it was because the restaurant was so busy.

By dessert, the cat was out of the bag when the waiter brought out a plate of Kellie’s favorite dessert with “Will You Marry Me?” written on it. David pulled out a gorgeous diamond ring from a black box and asked her to marry him.

In surprise and overwhelmed emotions, Kellie didn’t hesitate to say, “YES!”

What made you choose The Gramercy as your wedding venue?

When looking for wedding venues, we wanted a special venue that didn’t have the traditional hotel ballroom wedding feel. We wanted a venue the oozed romance, beauty, and comfort that would provide our guests with an airy, breathtaking backdrop as the scene for our wedding. When we toured Gramercy, we immediately fell in love with the beautiful lush garden area, so much that we had to have our ceremony in the garden. The monogramed bricks of previous couples who had been married there was a special touch that we loved and had never seen at other venues around town. The inside décor was unique and gave us the warm feeling and comfort of our own home. Once we saw Gramercy, we knew that it was the perfect place to be married and begin our happily ever after.

Where did you get your inspiration for you wedding décor?

My inspiration came from many places including the lush garden backdrop at Gramercy, and endless searches on Pinterest.

Who designed your dress and what made you decide on that style?

When looking for a dress I knew I wanted to look and feel like a princess. I was drawn to dresses with a sweetheart neckline, a bottom that flowed and an unforgettable long cathedral style veil. I had already purchased a dress when I came across the Eddy K gown that I chose to wear on my wedding day. The dress was a regal ball gown that I had custom designed to feature the sweetheart neckline that I so desired. The gown also featured elegant sequin lace topped with a fully beaded belt. Although I now had two dresses, when you find that one dress that makes you cry when you try it on, you know it’s the ONE!

What was your favorite detail from your wedding day?

The overall wedding was so beautiful. A few favorite details of our wedding day were the “In Memory of Table” that we used to honor our loved ones who couldn’t be in attendance, our gorgeous reception table décor and the sparkler send off.

Where did you travel for your honeymoon?

We traveled to Athens and Santorini Greece for our honeymoon.

Any tips for newly engaged couples planning their wedding?

I would recommend staying true to the type of wedding you would like to have, that fits your budget rather than start a marriage in debt. Focus on creating a savings and spending plan for your wedding to stay on target. Determine what aspects of your wedding are important to you and focus on those things to make your day extraordinary.
