PRIDE. Where did the name come from? Brenda Howard, a bisexual New York Activist, organized the first PRIDE Parade to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.
The Stonewall Inn is a gay bar In New York’s Greenwich Village that many people flocked to. It’s still a very popular nightspot today. On June 28, 1969 police raided the bar. Tensions grew quickly, as people were tired of the harassment they received for being openly gay. A 3-day riot ensued between the police and the gay community.
A year after the Stonewall Riots, Brenda Howard or “The Mother of Pride” held the first parade. People from all over the world celebrate this month with parades, festivals and more. The rainbow flag is a symbol of not only PRIDE but more importantly LOVE. In 1978, Gilbert Baker , an artist and designer, was asked by one of the first openly gay elected official in the US to design a flag for the upcoming PRIDE celebrations. Mr. Baker, a gay rights activist, drew inspiration from the rainbow to reflect the many groups of the gay community.

An intimate and private ceremony performed by Shannon Herrera Wedding Officiant Kate and Camille’s love story is one for the books. Their vows were so incredibly personal and heartfelt, that even the officiant shed a tear. Love like this is rare, and when you find it you hold on to it forever. The day was perfect and sun was shining bright for these two.
